I loved this place! I used to live in Baltimore and had a membership to the National Aquarium there. I knew this would be nothing like that and so I wasn't sure what to expect. Let me tell you, I was not disappointed by Ripley's Aquarium of Toronto.
Although the aquarium is not large, it is very well done and there is plenty to see. I visited with two friends and we all loved it. The best part is the lower level when you are surrounded by the fish! I quipped when I saw the moving walkway but once I saw what was going on, I completely appreciated the smart design move. Without the moving walkway, people would be walking into each other while they stared at the sharks and rays swimming right overhead. It was so cool!! [Notes: 1) You can walk alongside the moving walkway if you like. 2) No, it doesn't feel claustrophobic.]
I will definitely visit Ripley's Aquarium again, but probably after 7 pm when the price is lower. At first I thought the price of $30 or so was a bit expensive but when I considered that I spent about 2 hours completely enthralled, it wasn't bad. The evening discount is definitely a bonus though. Go. Visit. Enjoy!
