  • I had a chance to drop by once on my way through Las Vegas. I'm a boulder who regularly goes to Planet Granite Sunnyvale (California) and Central Rock Gym Worcester (Massachusetts). The setting at Red Rock Climbing Center is a little reachy and dynamic. Being a little taller than most folks, I was pretty okay with that, and dynamic route setting in gyms isn't super common, because of the inherent liability, and it's pretty impossible in really crowded gyms. The staff is friendly (Dustin in particular), which is a plus. The interaction between the staff and the climbers definitely helps to open up discussion between climbers. The community there is also pretty supportive, open to trading beta and cheering each other on. The only complaint that I have about the place is the maintenance of the bouldering (I didn't get on any of the roped climbs). There was a bunch of missing tape, and many of the footholds needed replacing after bring worn to a polished sheen. Bottom line is that I liked the setting because it was different. The people (staff and climbers) are friendly. The staff could do a little better job of maintaining the place.
