A beautiful garden, specializing in desert plants, many of which have their own eerie charm and many of which are downright trying to not be charming with either their dead-plant looks or their barbs and spikes.
We went with toddlers and preschoolers and a couple strollers for a day trip and spent about an hour strolling around thanks to days open to the public for free (I believe the 2nd Tuesday of the month). Downside: pretty crowded, but Upside: saved $25 a person and whatever they charge for kids. Going with kiddos that's probably the way to go - would have been a waste of money with anyone who can't vote yet. That day there were mostly families, bus tour groups, and retirees.
Desert plants don't provide a ton of shade, so our partly cloudy February visit was perfect in that regard - no overheating or intense thirst. Art installations with a SouthWest modern vibe can be found along the paths - the glass cactuses and the sundial some of my faves. Also a garden section with veggies and herbs - under a shade lol - totally necessary in AZ.
Overall, nice for what we did for free, but not sure I would go if I had to pay. It is really nice though - well kept, pristine, clean.
