  • While we received excellent service and hospitality here, this resort is by no means a five-star and doesn't really live up to the Diamond Resorts quality that us owners are used to. We noticed immediately upon arrival that the hallway of the building we were in smelled like mildew. The kitchen in the villa was TINY. Barely fits one person in there, and it's difficult to cook or prepare food because of the lack of counter space. You can't even get to the cabinets next to the refrigerator, and I'm 5'8 with fairly lengthy arms! The sink in the kitchen leaked, the dishwasher top rack was broken, and the garbage disposal backed up into the master bathroom tub! We were on the first floor in the Tulum Building, and we arrived on a Friday night. Saturday and Sunday we wanted to rest, but the Cove Pool with the waterslides opens early on the weekends and we had to contend with the screaming of kids going down the waterslides. Not that much of an issue, really, but we found out later that the pool with the waterslides doesn't even open until mid-afternoon during the week, which wrecked our plans for using it, since we typically left the resort after lunch to sightsee and do other things around town. Also, the front desk needs to get their communication straight. We were told when we checked in that our maid service would be on Monday. When we called on Monday to find out why they hadn't come, they told us that we were slated for Tuesday. Okay, we were initially told Monday, which seemed strange to us since we had just checked in the previous Friday and wouldn't be checking out until the following Sunday. Odd. And when we called to ask about the Cove Pool hours, the front desk told us that it should already be open (at 11:00 a.m.) and then we were transferred to someone else who told us it wouldn't be open until 2:30 p.m. Communication, people! We didn't have an issue with the concierge or the owner's meeting as many of the other reviewers did, but the breakfast that they served us that morning was a joke. I couldn't even get two cups of coffee - they ran out! The eggs tasted like they were powdered, the bacon wasn't good, the sausage was okay, but the breakfast potatoes were awful! In general, it was a fairly comfortable stay - the beds were fine and the rest of the condo was nice, but it is badly in need of overhauling and the tiny kitchens just do not work for people staying more than a week! We stayed for nine days and we couldn't wait to get back home to our modest-sized apartment kitchen because it was bigger than the one we had in the condo! We are used to a LOT better, Diamond. This property isn't helping you maintain your stellar image.
