Fiiz Drinks is a chain from Utah that seems to be a modern-day soda fountain. They offer sodas, Monster energy drinks, syrup and fruit puree add-ons for the aforementioned items, fruit waters, frozen blended drinks, hot chocolates, snacks, and a few other things which I've likely missed. So yes, that sugar warning is certainly warranted.
I avoided driving across town to Southwest Las Vegas to try the first Fiiz Drinks, brushing off the soda concept because I don't do sodas anymore. Then I learned about their second store coming to Henderson, and especially the grand opening, so I couldn't pass it up.
My first order was the Sandy Cheeks, a fruit water (normally $2.25 for 32 oz). It was on the bland side and mostly carried the coconut and lime flavors rather than the mango and strawberry purees. The Shamrock, a "Monster Mash Up" ($4.10 for 32 oz), was actually more interesting. I had a pleasant and not-too-sweet sensation, but I wouldn't say that I got anything distinctly "passion fruit" out of the flavor. My friend said that it was exactly like drinking the White Monster out of the can.
After rereading the menu with a focus on locating the items which might actually entice me back, I went to two items off the "Fiiz Frozen Favorites" menu. The Frozen Hot Chocolate ($5.95) was almost reminiscent of a bad frozen yogurt in flavor and icy texture, but I enjoyed it. I got enough chocolate flavor in it and the ice was evenly crushed. The Frozen Butterbeer ($4.95) was also somewhat monotonous, reading mostly of butterscotch. I might try it again if I'm really bored.
What really might bring me back is the business relationship which Fiiz seems to have with certain food trucks. They had two of them outside during their grand opening day, and I've seen that these trucks have advertised being at the Las Vegas location of Fiiz via social media. Hopefully, they'll also make their way over here every week or two.
Fiiz Drinks itself is not really for someone like me. I'll most likely stick to various tea-centric businesses which live nearby on Eastern Avenue. However, I've left the rating high because I think it will impress their target demographic. They've already started doing so, if the hordes of kids at the grand opening are a sign, so they'll surely lay claim to their niche in Henderson.
