I''ll be as brief as possible. Found a specific used car on their website. Called and spoke with Byron Johnson. Asked if the vehicle was still on the lot and still for sale because the dealership is very far from my home. He told me it was and that he would "grab the key because someone is looking at it now". Drove 25 miles to the dealership. Waited 30 minutes to be helped. Byron handed me off to a random salesman who immediately asked for my drivers license and began filling out financing paperwork. Had to stop him after 10 minutes and demand to see the car before signing anything. Random salesman tries to avoid the demand by saying "it's in the back being detailed" (I became instantly suspicious because this salesman had never been told which car I was looking for). Reiterated my demand to see the car. Salesman lets out a big sigh and grabs the inventory list. Salesman then walks away for 5 minutes. Salesman comes back with a big grin and says "Let's go see the car. Which car do you want to drive over there?". ?!?!WHAT?!?!
Turns out the car was NEVER at their dealership and was actually at Centennial Chrysler, 25 miles away and RIGHT NEXT TO MY HOME.
Lies, underhanded sales tactics, and hard sell is what you can expect from Towbin. I wouldn't have believed that there were still dealerships using 1970s tactics, but Towbin certainly does. I can only imagine how badly they would screw you if you purchased a new car from them.
