| - Superb service and mouthwatering choice meats at Via Brasil Steakhouse! I have been here several times. The restaurant is always clean and beautifully adorned with plants. The bar is located near windows with a great view. They have tables that are privately located for special occasions or centrally located near others and the cold bar. The cold bar is kept fresh and immaculate. The presentation is artistic - the chef's definitely take pride in their work!
I absolutely love their daily gazpacho. It is usually served in a small shot glass as a sweet sampling as they are generally made with a fresh seasonal fruit like cantaloupe or watermelon. I generally ask for a teacup to be sent to me tableside, so I can enjoy a bit more without taking five or more shot glasses. The cold bar has a hot section as well where they serve some seafood pastas and seafood soups. Their hot soups are very tasty. I don't partake in the pasta dishes since I am there for choice meats.
I love the system typical of all local Brazilian restaurants that allows servers to know when you are ready for more meat. A circular color-coded yes/no card indicates when food should be offered or when servers should bypass the table. This allows the guest time to eat some of what they have before going back for more or from being bothered when full or not ready. It also allows the service to flow throughout the restaurant as serving staff carries choice meats that are hot and sometimes heavy.
The choice meats are broken into two categories of prices. There is something close to six select meats on the higher priced selection than the lower one. The price difference is $10.00, and it is worth the experience. Prior to service of meats, you can select from sauces and sides you'll want with your meal, and these are unlimited. I usually order sautéed mushrooms and the plantains. These are great choices.
I love the lamb chops, salmon, shrimp, and filet. They are my favorites! My favorites require more of the server's attention because most of these are not usually items that just make the rounds randomly. The lamb is cooked to order, so when you are ready, they will make it. The salmon is also typically not out often because it gets cold quick and is served on a wooden fire plate for flavor with a sweet sauce that makes it like a finishing selection to lead into dessert. I usually get the salmon last for that reason. The shrimp come out on a sizzling hot plate. The filet is well... a well seasoned choice meat. Although it is not meat, one item that is served is fresh hot mozzarella! I can be absolutely full and have a least two of these! This is a must try!
What stands out among the other Brazilian restaurants in town are the service standards. The restaurant expectation is that any guest that gets up from his/her seat should come back to a folded napkin and their seat pushed back in if left out. I love the concept of dining and being treated like a valued guest. I wish more restaurants invested time in winning my patronage. Additionally, there is a managerially presents that is not obtrusive to guests. They use hand signals and eye contact to keep watch on staff and draw attention to details. This is excellent training because when a guest motions, the servers are more observant. I have dined in restaurants were eye contact and body language was ignored due to ignorant waiting staff, foreign customs, or poor training. This prompts guests to get out of their seat or call out in a restaurant - tacky.
My favorite server is Fidel. I usually ask for him when I visit. Although all the servers in this restaurant work seamlessly together, Fidel stands out among the rest. When I ask for something like my lamb chops, he puts that order in and checks back with me as to when I can expect them. When I am done, he asks if I want more. When I tell him I am ready for my Salmon, he goes to the kitchen for that as well. He makes sure my water is never less than half-full, he pushes and pulls my chair out when I get up or sit down, and he never seems to act as though he is rushed or bothered. He never makes me feel like I am eating the entire restaurant out of their lamb chops or shrimp. He truly makes me feel like I am his only guest.
Definitely come to this restaurant hungry! Five-stars well deserved.
