| - My Sr. Manager (who is not from Phoenix) really hyped up Cowboy Ciao and their Stetson salad. It all started when he asked my coworker, who is from Phoenix, what the quintessential Phoenix/Scottsdale restaurant was. Hint hint, my coworker's reply was not Cowboy Ciao.
Because we had a few other team members from out of town, I made a reservation for 6 for dinner. We shared a few of the appetizers including the scallops, the salad, and the bread with the bacon butter. All the items were underwhelming. The salad was a salad, nothing that I would come back for. The scallops were ok, and the bread was just bread with fancy melted butter. Most restaurants would give it to you for free, but not at Cowboy Ciao. I can't speak to the other mains by the salmon I ordered. Half of it was so burnt that I couldn't eat it (as it would seriously offend my taste buds). The bed of quinoa was very bland so I barely touched that.
Not only was the food expensive and lacking in quality, the service was extremely slow. I didn't get my glass of wine until well into the main course and I had to remind our server that I had ordered a glass of the rose. The food also seemed to take forever to come out of the kitchen.
At the end of our very subpar and expensive meal, my Sr. Manager fessed up and said that the last time he dined at Cowboy Ciao was a few years ago and he definitely sees a drop in quality. I think it's safe to say that he nor I will be back anytime soon.
