The location is absolutely perfect, within a few blocks of Old Montreal and Chinatown, with St. Catherine St not much further.
Othe than that, it's nothing terribly special. Le Place seems like the kind of place which wants to be fancy, but can't afford to because they don't charge those prices. And it shows. I booked a room with 2 beds for 4 adults, but when I checked in, the room they reserved was for a single bed. They offered me a cot to accommodate the extra adult after one was placed on the couch. It took me much longer than it should have to get an "upgrade" to a suite.
I put d!ck quotes on upgrade for a reason--the pull-out was broken and we had to move almost all the furniture in the living room to make the bed fit once we pulled it out. Not to mention that we needed to order pillows and towels for the room.
I get it, I'm frustrated. Other than their SNAFU, the hotel was fine, and I really liked the location.
