| - I was a little hesitant at first due to some of the not so good reviews but I'm a big believer in forming your own opinion based on your own direct experience, so I gave this a go.
Camden's location was ideal for me - a 15 mins walk from home, and on short notice, was able to fit me in for a 90 mins hot stone massage with Yvonne, one of their more senior therapists. The decor was simple yet pleasant, the space big and open, and seemingly quite clean at first glance. I'm a clean freak so I definitely notice this kind of thing, especially after one of the reviews talked about how 'dusty' it was. To be honest, I didn't notice excessive dust (though I didn't inspect the product shelves on the wall), neither in the reception area or my massage room...and the bathroom was pretty sparkling. The treatment room was calm with candles and enough space for your belongings. The massage table was ok for comfort - the face cushion was a bit too shallow in terms of the opening for you to breathe through. I find this is always the main issue with any massage place and it's rare to find one that is really comfortable. There was also an air exchanger in the room that was quite loud during the entire time (which could have been turned down or off ideally but perhaps that was a way they were responding to the comments about the dust, who knows).
Yvonne was very nice and took time to explain her approach, ensuring that I communicate with her during the massage at any time if I had any issues whatsoever. I've had hundreds of massages over the years so this is something that any good therapist should be practicing. Having so many experiences, I was able to tell her what works for me and what doesn't. Once we got started, we hit it off right away, as we got in to talking about music - her being an accomplished musician and myself, a DJ, fairly new to the city. After great conversation, I settled in to a relaxing yet very powerful therapy session. Turns out, I didn't have to tell her to adjust anything during the entire 90 minutes as she was superb. She used great pressure, combining the warmth of the stones with strong swedish techniques from head to toe. The only small complaint I have is that the stones didn't really retain their heat long enough and I would have liked more. I'm not sure if that's a fault of the heat source or the stones themselves as I know there are different types which maintain their properties for longer duration.
Yvonne gave me plenty of time to get dressed when we were finished and offered me a glass of water when I came out to reception. I really liked the chocolates at the front desk - nice touch and I tell you, just that alone can make a difference to someone's enjoyment, especially chocolate lovers like myself!
I'm not sure about their other services, but all in all, my massage experience was a positive one and I would recommend Yvonne and Camden to anyone looking for a quality, well-trained, intuitive, natural healer/RMT.
