| - The appointment started out bad and actually got worse - and I mean much worse. Requiring medical assistance worse.
So I wasn't terribly impressed by the patronizing and distracted, borderline rude hairdresser I was assigned to start. Little was I to know that was going to be the least painful thing about this appointment.
Apart from the unwarranted extra charge (extra $10-15 on top of the existing cost of the highlights to tone my short hair? Really? No other salon I've ever been to has ever asked for that) and the rather unprofessional receiving of a walk-in client in the middle of doing my hair, there was more... so much more.
A few minutes in, once my hair was put in foils for the highlights, I started to feel a dripping sensation on my scalp. When I mentioned it to the hairdresser (who at this point was working on the walk-in client), she insisted it wasn't possible anything was dripping. A few minutes later, I was still feeling the dripping, and now, a viscous clear fluid was slowly trickling down the edge of my hairline. I asked the hairdresser if she could have a look and maybe wipe it off (no kleenex or anything was anywhere in sight). She again insisted nothing could be dripping. I then showed her the fluid dripping down as I dabbed some onto my fingers -- she insisted she couldn't see it. Then she could see it, but it *must* be my sweat. I explain that no, it's not sweat, it has a chemical smell. She insists it's not there and gives me a look like I'm an errant child and continues to work on the walk-in.
I'm left dabbing and wiping the liquid on the robe. 15 minutes of this and she finally offers me kleenex in an exasperated voice.
Finally, my hair was rinsed out and I got an ok cut. Once my hands were free from the robe, I made a point of washing my face, especially near the hairline. If only it ended there.
Shortly afterward leaving the salon, I started to feel a hot sensation along my hairline. This got progressively worse. By the time the next morning rolled around, I woke up with a large angry red patch along one side of my face along the hairline, and a smaller red patch along the other side. Given the timing and the fact that I've never had any reactions anywhere near my hairline nor had I done anything different apart from visit Sculpture and get treated the way I did, I assumed the liquid had prompted an allergic reaction of some sort.
Benadryl did not help. I drank lots of water and hoped the reaction would fade. It didn't. By Day 4 it was clear this wasn't going away on it's own or with allergy meds. I finally got in to see the doctor who told me this was not an allergic reaction it was a chemical burn/chemical dermatitis.
So yeah visit this place at your own risk. Being ripped off and treated rudely is the least of your worries here!!
