| - I've thought long and hard whether I should post a review. I had 4 colour appts over the course of a year.
What I liked:
1) Hospitality- snacks, tea and coffee are always offered to the clients.
2) Stylists take the time to sit you down and talk about your hair goals, condition etc.
What I disliked:
1) Normally, when you have foils to achieve blonde highlights, the colourist applies toner as part of the treatment. At Blonde salon, they always try to upsell you in to getting a "gloss" and at that same time, when you get the gloss, they also tone your hair. This gloss costs $25ish dollars. During my second to last appt, my gloss was left on too long and lightened my brown non-highlighted hair which took away the dimension I've been spending years to achieve. I cried the whole night. For my last appt, I asked to forgo the gloss which turned out to mean that they weren't going to tone me (though they never admitted that). Afterwards, my highlights (which did not get toned) looked brassy and yellow. I pointed this out to the colorist. She replied that it was because I said no to the gloss. She said glossing helps even out the yellow which is complete BS. Honestly, toning should not be hidden as part of the gloss. They should just openly admit that they charge extra for toning and stop hiding it as a gloss- it's an insult to my intellect for them to think they can trick me like that and it's shady of the salon.
2) Three of the stylists, including Stacy the owner, gossip about clients behind their backs. They do it openly so that anyone in the colour application room can hear. It's like sitting in a room of Mean Girls. It makes themselves as colorists as well as the whole salon look petty and small minded. If someone gossips about others, you know they also gossip about you. It's like a bunch of women at their worst-ugh.
3) My colorist always grimaced and made me feel bad for leaving approx 3 months between appts. I explained every time that I am trying to grow my hair long and that the only way to reduce damage is to extend the time between appts. I also explained that I wanted dimension and the only way to achieve that is to allow a sufficient length of regrowth so that when the highlights are applied, the highlights are visible as highlights, not just a blonde mass. She made me feel like I was being cheap.
4) Lastly, my hair never really looked amazing. I hoped that after 4 appts, one year of growth, and careful care of my hair between appts that my hair would look better but at best, it looks average. Though the salon claims to specialize in Blonde hair, I didn't feel like they added any special value vs any other similarly priced salon.
Again, I feel like I gave this salon a fair chance. I guess I need to find a new one.
