| - I started going to Nevada Family Care in January and was seeing a doctor that was excellent. However, getting someone to answer the phone, even after leaving several messages was a nightmare. But, I was impressed with the doctor so I continued to go. Then, suddenly and without warning, my doctor retired. I found out my doctor retired from my pharmacist. NFC hadn't even changed he recording on his message line and hadn't bothered to call his patients!!! So, after hearing about it from my pharmacist, I called the office and spoke with someone on the front desk who told me they were transferring my care to Dr. Fakhouri but that he was over-booked and it would be weeks until I could get an appointment. I asked if he would order labs so that I could have current results to talk to him about. Dr. Fakhouri said "No, I have to see her first". OK, fine. Then the nurse told me that Dr. Fakhouri wanted me to completely stop taking one of my meds. I told her that the previous doctor had lowered that strength significantly back in January when I saw him and that before I stopped it, I wanted to see what my levels were at the strength I was taking. She said she would talk to Dr. Fakhouri about it and she called me back and said he was adamant that I stop it immediately. I told her that I was very uncomfortable doing that and told her I would just talk to him about it when I see him.
On the day of my appt, he was 30 mins late into the exam room and he walked in with 2 pieces of paper, one of which were my results from labs back in January which I had already spoken to the previous doctor about and which prompted the lower dosage of medication. Dr. Fakhouri was very arrogant and egotistical and when I questioned him about why he hadn't read my file and why he didn't know I was taking a lower dose of meds given that I had told him and it was in my chart, he started yelling at me and told me he didn't need patients like me questioning his decisions and told him to follow me to the front desk where they would refund my money and discharge me. He continued to yell at me down the hall in front of other patients and nurses and continued yelling when he left me at the front desk as he was walking back down the hall. A few days later I received a registered letter that NFC would no longer treat me and that I can find another doctor. Didn't even offer to transfer me to another doctor within their practice. Just said I could no longer be a patient at their practice. Which is fine. If they are going to treat me that way, I don't need the frustration. All this because I questioned what the doctor was doing!!!
As a side note, I spoke to the Office Manner in a calm and understanding way explaining that I was very confused as to why the doctor was so upset. She promised to look into it and call me back. She never called back. I just received the registered letter. It's amazing to me that they manage to stay in business.
Moral of the story: If you are a patient of Dr. Fakhouri, don't question any of his decisions. And, if you are going to use NFC be aware that calls are very slow to be returned and the office staff is often slow to respond.
