Some friends and I booked in as a group at Jim-Bow's to try our hands at some archery. Jim-Bow himself (yep, he calls himself Jim-Bow, as do all of his regular customers) set us up with our combination bows and walked us through from start to finish on loading our bows and having the arrow land cleanly in the middle of the target.
Would you believe that I got a bulls-eye on my first shot? Yeah, neither would I. I don't think my first shot even hit the target. But with a few tips and adjustments to the bow (and how I was holding it) from Jim-Bow, eventually I started to hit that piece of paper with all the rings on it. A couple of shots even hit the very centre ring (I like to pretend that wasn't a fluke).
The archery range is split in two and is adorned with mounted heads of bison, deer, antelope and the likes. When groups book in, one side is completely reserved for them. The other side is used by folks with their own equipment.
There were 5 of us there and it was $20 a head for the equipment and space rental. We were there for two and a half hours. For that much archery time and lessons and tips included from Jim-Bow (he really knows his archery), I'd say it was $20 well spent. We had a lot of fun!
