No trip to Las Vegas is complete without a visit to Hoover Dam. This was my husband's first time and we were lucky the weather cooperated. Being it was mid-December it was a bit rainy. We rented a car to drive out as we wanted to see the Hoover Dam at our own pace and not on a tour bus. It is about a 40 minute drive from the Las Vegas strip.
We parked across from the dam and parking was reasonably priced. Once we crossed the road we headed inside so we can take a tour. The price of thr tour is $30. Per person it starts at 9:30 AM and runs until 3:30 PM.
While you wait on line there is a photo opportunity that they take of you with a green background. At the end you can chose from many different versions including the Hoover Dam at night which we chose.
The tour starts in a theatre with a short film on the history of the Dam. Very well done and informative makes you proud to be an American. Especially since they were so progressive in getting water to the surrounding states. After the tour we could walk across the bridge as half the dam is in Nevada and the other Arizona. Very famous place seen in many movies. So glad we came.
