| - I've been here on a couple of consecutive Sundays to shop around for our upcoming residential flooring project. I felt, both times, that the person who greeted us was indifferent to our business. We were greeted upon entering the store, yes, but the rest was up to us. It was like self-service where we explained our situation, asked lots of questions, and even said goodbye. Whenever we said "thanks" for anything, the employee there responded, "No problem," which was kindly intended, I know, but just came off as "Whatever." He was mostly focused on doing his work at his computer (toward the back of the store) and helping us only when asked a direct question. To me, when I'm walking into a retail store front prepared to spend seven to ten thousands, I'd like to be handled by a consultant, not a clerk or an order-taker, and I'd like them to act like my business makes a difference to them. It's not that my standards are impossibly high. As we've shopped around recently, we've found better, more proactive and caring service in many, many other flooring stores, even some of the huge home improvement big box stores.
