Way better than I expected!
I had Korean once before Chodang at another establishment about a year ago, and it was sub-par which I chalked up to the fact that Phoenix probably didn't have a big Korean population compared to some other parts of the US. Going into Chodang, I didn't have super high expectations but it far exceeded what I had imagined. The store itself is cozy and there's plenty of parking in the back.
We ordered the seafood soft tofu stew, bulgogi (spicy marinated pork), and dolsot bibimbap (stone bowl bibimbap) which was very, very filling and all were super delicious. They gave us the side dishes when the food came which didn't take too long. The service was very nice; water was refilled in a timely manner as were side dishes. I'm always happy when I go to a Korean place, and they don't treat me like the foreigner that I am. It was quite expensive, though. $50 for the two of us. Regardless, would definitely return.
