  • Fred's has become one of several small locally owned stores that I go to for inexpensive groceries before resorting to the large grocery store chains. Yes, most of their stuff is overstock or rejects, but it is always within date (or day old - but always labeled as such) and I have never had any quality issues. You can stock up on bread and other baked goods from reliable local bakeries for less money. They also have an ever changing and expanding selection of groceries including snacks, dry goods, condiments, milk and nonalcoholic beverages, limited dairy, fresh produce, hot dogs, brats, bacon and various frozen goods. I always look around to see what's new. Great place to stretch a budget.
