I was excited to have "Carmen" cut my (short, curly) hair at an event at Northlake Mall last week. I asked him to cut my bangs. I told him and showed him I had cowlicks on both sides and asked him to be careful cutting that area because of the curl and cowlicks. Without missing a beat or even combing through my hair to get the "feel" of it, he put a washcloth over my face and started cutting. I had never met him so I would have thought at the very least he would have combed through my hair to see how it was cut and get a feel for how it was shaped but he did not. He cut a few whisps of my bangs and then styled it with heat and a wiry brush. The styling felt good but at the "unveiling" I saw that he had cut the "cowlick" side too short (he did not allow for the cowlick to pull up). The sides weren't very even, either. I continue to be amazed at how even "experienced" stylists don't take the proper care or pay attention to simple things like how to cut curly hair or cowlicks so that one side does not pull up shorter than another side. I dread getting my hair cut but was hoping for a better experience than Carmen delivered. He had good intentions but the delivery was lacking. Going to take a month to make up for the uneven, too short cut. Disappointed.
