He Said:
We were in the area for a flight the next morning and the proximity of breweries/tap houses in this few-square-block spot was a beacon. She had been here before and chalked up the style of service on that visit to it being a semi-busy day that featured plenty of partying people wandering in on their way to the soccer match (which is where I was). It turns out it wasn't that. Our experience suggested the half-hearted friendliness and lack of interest in us, despite being two of 6 actual customers, might be the norm. Who knows, maybe we got the same staff she got last year. The vibe could be great, the space is definitely cool and the one beer we had was definitely yummy. The attitude is a turn-off.
She Said:
I didn't review the bar on my first visit because He wasn't with me, but I'll mention now that I was not thrilled with the brewery on that visit. It was packed--there was a soccer game at the stadium--and I attributed the lack of interest by the bartenders in my happiness to the fact that I'm a middle-aged woman and not a cute twenty-something guy. Whatever. The beer I had on that visit was tasty, and I had bought some cans of it once while visiting my son in NC and found it to still be tasty, so I suggested to He that we visit on this trip.
What a waste. Despite the nearly empty bar, we were practically ignored. Maybe it's because the other two people in the bar were cute guys with equally cute dogs. Whatever. I've been a bartender, and it's not hard to be nice to everyone who pulls up a chair whether they're a potential mate or not.
We would have had two (or three) beers had the service been more pleasant. Instead we had one. It was good. I'm not inclined to go back.
Potty Points: 4 out of 5. The bathroom was clean, but I expect there will be a line if there are ever more than six people in the bar!
