  • We flew into Pittsburgh to attend the Pittsburgh Beer festival that was taking place at Stage AE (which is one block away from the hotel). The front desk staff was nice and our check-in went smooth. When enter our room it was extremely hot. The festival was starting soon so we changed and headed down stairs to let the front desk know so they could fix it while we were gone. When we returned from the festival the AC was still not working. No one informed us it was it was not fixed nor did the attempt to call me on my cell phone which was listed on my account. The festival took place in July so you can imagine how uncomfortable it is to have a room with no AC during the summer. The maintenance staff was no longer on duty so they sent up security. His name was Robert (very nice guy, I felt bad he was stuck telling us they could not do anything for us). Robert told us maintenance could not fix the AC and they were fully book. Robert offered us a big fan but honestly our cloths were sticking to us and a fan was not going to do the trick. I am Hyatt Diamond member and I stay at Hyatts about 30-40 times a year. You would think the Hyatt Diamond line would figure out a resolution however they were no help at all. They did not even offer to move us to a different Hyatt hotel even though there are 4 or 5 in the area. They told me that the Manager, Susan, would be contacting me in the morning to see if they could give me points to my hyatt diamond account. At this point it is 3am in the morning. Robert (security) tells us they found a room for us. I thought this was odd considering they told us they were fully booked. We packed up all of our stuff and moved rooms in the middle of the night. The AC in the room was working and were were relieved. I was still not happy the we did not have AC from 4pm to 3am in the morning so I was expecting the manager to context me in the morning. Sometime in the middle of the night our room got extremely hot. We woke up sweating but we were so tired from being up all night waiting for another room so we tried to ignore it and make due. I can only assume no one was in that room due to AC issues as well and they got lucky when it started to work again so they placed us in there. We stayed at the hotel until 1pm. The Manager did not contact us so I figured she wound call that evening since we were staying another night. I was wrong. We were never once contacted by the hotel manager or the hyatt diamond line to make sure we were taken care of. When we ventured off into Pittsburgh for the day, we again I informed the front staff that the AC was not working. When we got back from lunch the hotel moved us into a new room. This would be our 3rd room within 24 hours. Again we packed up our stuff and moved to the new room. Luckily the AC in that room stayed working for the remainder of our stay. I want to be clear that the Front Desk desk staff and the Security guy (Robert) were very nice. As for the Management, maintenance staff and diamond line...they get a ZERO in my book. Coming from someone who travels a lot, I would not recommend this hotel. It has left a bad enough taste in my mouth to where I may not continue to use Hyatt for my business trips. It appears I will become a Hilton Honors member very soon.
