I find it hard to review a place that I've been to more times than I could possibly remember. I mean, I sold this stuff for school and church programs. My mom would bring me to the shop when I was little and pick out candy when I got good grades on my report card. Half the girls in my high school worked in the ice cream parlor at some point...
But I will try my best.
You step into Sarris' candy shop and you are transported back in time... bright lights, red walls, giant gold shelves, a chocolate castle that I could SWEAR has never changed. Not sure if it's meant to evoke an old-timey-candy-shoppe atmosphere or if it was just a product of the 1970's. Either way, it's comforting because it's familiar.
Chocolate covered Oreos, turtles, sea salt caramels, chocolate covered pretzels- they are all so good. Would you like to know what amazing tastes like? Then get yourself some peanut butter meltaways pronto. The ice cream parlor is also a favorite, but the portions are so huge you might want to consider sharing with a buddy. I've always been a sucker for their chocolate shakes.
When I'm in town I always make a stop at Sarris' to pick up some chocolate deliciousness to take back to Vegas. And every time I scream "their prices went up again??!" It is really starting to get old. Therefore, I took a star off my rating.
Stop by the store next time you are in town and pick up some peanut butter meltaways. Just be prepared for some sticker shock when you do.
