  • I've always been a fan of Kennywood, it's my home park after all. However, I think think that my love for the park is properly supported. First off, the benefits of going to Kennywood. You get free parking and the option to bring in your own food. These are things I know that a lot of guests very much appreciate. However, just because you can bring your own food, doesn't mean you shouldn't try the park food. The park includes the typical chain Johnny Rockets and Rita's, which are perfectly fine. However, you haven't experienced Kennywood until you've eaten the Potato Patch Fries. They come with cheese, bacon, ketchup, and will leave you wanting more. Of course there are different stands, including multiple soda machines with a mist zone, a surprisingly unique ICEE stand, Dippin' Dots, Funnel Cakes, Soft Serve, and so much more. There is a lot more smaller things that can be discussed, but I think it's time to go into the part that you visit Kennywood for, the rides. Racer: The only roller coaster with this track design in the US. Sure there are dueling roller coasters, but they don't end at the opposite station that they started at. Not too extreme, but a unique family ride. Be warned though, the line can go pretty long, but due to the nature of the coaster, the line goes pretty fast. Thunderbolt: My personal favorite coaster at Kennywood. It has a partner policy you should be aware of, you need to have a partner to ride, if you don't have one then ask a staff member and they'll find you one or even just ride with you. The restraints give a lot of freedom, so you'll be getting great airtime. It's probably objectively the best wooden roller coaster in the park. Jack Rabbit: The ride is actually pretty fun, the best part about it is the "double dip" halfway through the ride. It's a must-ride if you're with a family. Sky Rocket: Not good, not bad, just mediocre. The best part is the launch, leaving you waiting the rest of the ride for something more fun to happen. Phantom's Revenge: The highlight of the park. Featuring a top speed of 85 mph, a second drop larger than the first (228 ft), and 3,200 ft of track. A must-ride for coaster enthusiasts, and a great experience for normal guests. Aero 360: A decently unique flat ride, it's a bit hard to explain here, but I think if you see it, you'll find out. Black Widow: A large spinning frisbee ride, great for flat ride thrill seekers! Volcano: I haven't rode this, but from what I've heard from friends, it's a fast-paced Ferris Wheel design that spins you in the air at fast speeds, having you go upside-down when you reach the top. Great thrill ride for those who like them! I could go on and on about the other rides, such as the Exterminator, Musik Express, Paratroopers, all the water rides, and so many more, but I have to cut it short here. Kennywood is a park with rich history (found on their website), friendly staff, and great rides. If you ever get the chance, go visit Kennywood!
