| - If you know exactly what you want to buy, go ahead, but even then expect long wait times. I came here, however, to get my iPhone fixed.
Mostly, I was unhappy with the outcome of my Genius Bar appointment. The genius didn't actually appreciate where I was coming from. Issue was that my phone was getting uncomfortably hot, and would have sporadic jumps in battery life - phone would say 14% and then as soon as I plug it in it'd say it has 30+%.
While I had my iPhone and AppleCare+, I felt protected ... that if I had issues like this, it would be no problem because I had the Apple team to support my iPhone, but now that I actually came across an issue, the first genius - who was pleasant to deal with - suggested I restore my phone from scratch. I was already hesitant of doing this, which is why it took me maybe a month and a bit to actually get around to doing it (I had a ton of precious pictures of my girlfriend and me and our trip to NYC ... she lives in Korea and we see each other 1-2 times a year max). However, after taking the first genius's advice to restore the phone, I experienced the exact same issues prompting me to book an appointment to see the genius bar again. This time around, the lady helping me told me that it's just my usage. Keep in mind that her diagnostic tools only really had maybe 3 days of information to make a diagnosis, whereas I've lived with the phone for 2 years. I know that my usage is pretty constant - I'm not a heavy user of my phone, unlike most users nowadays. Also, even if the issue was that I was just using my phone a lot, it doesn't explain how my battery would indicate I only had 14% left, and then jump sporadically to 30+% as soon as I plug it in.
In short, I'm definitely convinced there's a hardware issue with my phone. I don't expect my phone's battery capacity to be 100% after 2 years, but what I don't expect is that all of a sudden my phone's battery indicator becomes erratic and therefore unreliable! As weird as it may sound, I don't trust my phone anymore, so I just try to keep it charged when I can. It's extremely disappointing that I trusted Apple's advice to purchase AppleCare+, only to have my concerns dismissed, and my issue unresolved. Now that my warranty is over soon, I just have to live with the fact I'm going to have to deal with an uncomfortably hot phone, with a wonky battery indicator. As a huge Apple user (iPad Pro, Watch, iMac, Pro Retina, iPhone), I'd normally recommend my friends to get AppleCare as a no-brainer, but that just isn't the case anymore.
