| - Visited North Mountain Brewing Company the other night on a whim. (A friend's whim, actually.) It wasn't until I arrived that I realized I had been there once before a couple of years ago to watch a different friend of mine perform live with her band.
I remembered this as I walked up to the entrance and, sure enough, was greeting by the sound of live music playing again as I entered. Being a musician myself, and long-time lover of live music, this was an instant hit for me. I found a seat and got comfortable.
The first time I ever visited North Mountain Brewing Company, I didn't order any food, just a beer. It was so long ago that I can't remember having any impressions of the beer one way or another. I just remember liking the feel of the place.
This time, I was here for dinner. AND a beer. So, as I sat at a small table for two in the very center of the room, surrounded by the sounds of acoustic ambiance, I began to peruse the beer and food menus as if for the very first time.
I was impressed to find so many original beers on the menu. Good ones, too - including the beer that I ordered which was an Imperial Red IPA. YUMM!!! My friend ordered a red ale, which was equally delicious in its own way.
We were helped by a pretty young server named Alisa. She was super helpful and more than willing to answer all our questions. I made a point of getting her name off the receipt so that I could mention her in this review. She was great.
My friend ordered the Fish & Chips, and I ordered the Poutine at Alisa's recommendation. Both entrees were tasty, although not as standout as the beer, in my opinion. I'd rate both entrees a 4 out of 5, but my friend really enjoyed her Fish & Chips.
Overall, the experience was a win. I plan to go back and try more off the food menu. I'm especially excited to go back and try more off the BEER menu. (I drove from North Scottsdale and that alone is worth the trip.)
If you haven't been to North Mountain Brewing Company, I'd recommend it based on my experience there. If you're really lucky, you'll get Alisa as your server. Make it even more interesting and find a time when they're playing live music (they do this often).
Thank you, North Mountain Brewing, for creating some truly enticing beers. (Probably some of my favorite in the Valley currently.) And thank you, Alisa, for such outstanding service. I'll look forward to seeing you all again soon. :)
