  • This building is a part of the Fort Necessity National Battlefield which is a part of the National Parks system. The tavern is a great example of what you would have found along the national road in the 1800s and was a fun place to visit. When you enter, there are several rooms on the ground floor including the parlor, kitchen, dining room and bar. There is no staff in the building so it is helpful that there are signs explaining every room and the signifigance and use. Upstairs are several rooms decorated as they would have been when guests stayed in there. It was interesting to read about and imagine what it must have been like to be a guest. On the outside of the tavern is a model of a stagecoach to give vistors an idea of what visitors would have been arriving in. If you are visiting the battlefield, it is worth the side trip to the tavern.
