  • I was looking for internet and got a decent quote with century link online. When I called I wasn't offered the same quote. When I asked about it I was told I would get a call back because that person (some sort of outside vendor) wasnt allowed to offer that package (the package i got on centurylink.com). I get the call back, I still have questions but they're pushed aside and they start asking for personal information. I figure "What the hell this is a big corporation they should be up to any funny business." So, I play along and give the information then I start asking questions. I'm told I have to pay for a modem to be shipped to me because this company doesn't have any modems. I question the fact that a company this big doesn't have modems in the city at all. Then the girl gives me an attitude and says it's unheard of for them to have modems. So, I'm a little frustrated but still going along because I can (out of my own pocket) to have the modem shipped overnight. Next question. When can a technician hook it up? I'm told not for 5 days. I called on Friday February 28, 2014 and was told not until Wednesday March 5, 2014. That's what's really unheard of. I ask the lady if we can just cancel the whole transaction and she says "yes no problem" and we get off the phone and I get internet hooked up (the same day) by cox communications after a brief phone call. Fast forward to March 3rd, the modem arrives at my house from century link. I think it's weird but figure it's a mistake and plan to return it to them when I get spare time. Fast forward to today March 4th, they bill my account for shipping and deposit. I call with my information and the guy seems polite when I explain my situation and says "Let me place you on a brief hold while I do some digging." After 5 minutes on hold he hung up on me. According to Century links automated system I have no account with them, their CSR's hang up on me, and yet they're still billing my bank accounts. I'll be driving to a store to talk to someone face to face that can't just put me on hold and hang up on me. My recommendation to anyone thinking of saving a mere $10 a month by choosing these clowns over cox is pay the couple extra bucks. It's not worth the hassle. They'll make you wait a week to get service and treat you like a jerk if you ask why it takes so long. As if waiting a week for service is some sort of industry standard or something.
