| - For 20 years we have made visiting the cactus garden a Christmas tradition. It's getting bigger and more crowded, but still it's beautiful. This year our experience was ruined by the security staff. Chris, the guard, approached my family in the parking lot. At first I was not surprised, as there were 20 of us getting ready to go in together. I assumed he was making sure we didn't block traffic. As we were saying our hellos, I opened a thermos of cocoa I brought for the kids. My sister opened a pack of cookies. We were giving them each a cookie and a little cocoa before we went in, when Chris yelled at our group, "what's going on here?" and "You can't tailgate here!" As I tried to explain that we weren't tailgating, he was rude and angry and yelled that he would kick us out and "Ban you for life!". He yelled this to children. on Dec 23rd. Going to see Santa. He then yelled "I don't know what you've got got there trying to pass out to kids! It could be alcohol!" I tried to show him but he yelled more. He said that as I was pouring some cocoa out for my 5 year old nephew. My nephew got scared and started to cry because he was afraid to drink the cocoa.
All this happened in about 5 minutes. We didn't make a ruckus, we didn't argue, we didn't set up chairs and cook, we were just trying to see the lights together as a family.
My sister (a REAL police officer, by the way) Yelled to everyone in our group to just walk away, and tried to calmly deal with Chris, who was being incredibly unreasonable and rude. She said "no problem, we are moving along we don't want any trouble" but he kept yelling.
Merry Christmas Ethel M!
we emailed Ethel M company, still waiting for a response.
