It was very difficult to get a hold of someone during certain time frames on the weekend to make an appointment. I even left a message and didn't get a return call. I called the next day and the phone got forwarded to Float Sanctuary San Diego. I almost gave up.
Upon arriving, there was nowhere to park late on Sunday in front of business on the street. I parked a little down the street. I can't even imagine what it would be like during the work week. As a local, I recommend you don't even try going on a First Friday of the month when everyone is in the area. It would be very difficult to park nearby
Once inside, Tiffany explained everything very well. You make a payment and sign a waiver. Then she gives you a quick tour. Nothing too complicated. You take a shower before getting into the tank. The water in the tank is body temperature. Not too hot. If your claustrophobic then the tank is definitely not for you.
Once inside the tank, you float on your back, relax and you can hear your heart beat. I floated without any earplugs. The experience was somewhat relaxing. 60 minutes was plenty. I closed my eyes and just let my mind wander. The tank gets a little stuffy but there are air vents that blew some cold air on occasion. I couldn't fall asleep although it was my first time and didn't know what to expect. I kind of got bored towards the end and left the tank about 5 minutes early. I prefer a massage but can see why some people enjoy the therapy. Plan on getting salt water in your eyes and it will burn. Just expect it.
Overall the experience for me was a 4. Tiffany was very nice and had a great attitude. She was the best part of my visit.
