| - This was interesting.
Boyfriend and I were in NC from FL to see Frightened Rabbit. You should go listen to them now because they're the best thing ever. The show was fantastic. This hotel was not.
First of all, this is in a sketchy ass area. I'm from Miami and my boyfriend is from Flint (street Cred, yo) and, while he'd go out at all hours to chain smoke and look menacing, I stayed tucked upstairs watching murder shows on the giant TV. The hotel room was ok, clean enough. The bed was comfortable and I didn't notice any bed bugs or roaches. As we stayed in a $400 a night hotel a few months ago that came with a roach, this is something I've come to appreciate.
This area though, and the miscreants that seem to rock around this place, are not on the level. When we headed out to the show a drunk lady of the night (NOT THAT THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH SEX WORK) gave me the hairy eyeball while I stared at my boots. I was so busy avoiding eye contact that I'm relying on my boyfriend's comments. I tend to avoid getting my face slashed with a razor on my way to see a show. In general, the people that were staying here were all likely drug dealers and/or sex workers. Not that there is anything wrong with that! Hell, that could even be a nice feature to the right person!
The clerks are all rude af and seem to be pals with the various rogues using this place to sling their services out of. You have ONE JOB, hotel clerk, and being civil is 95% of it!
We tried to nap on the first day we stayed and the maids bellowing at each other in the hall woke me up every few minutes. This morning, a lawnmower woke my boyfriend up at 7:30 am. I must have rage-slept through it.
In summary:
This place is cheap but, you might get mugged or murdered on top of being condescended to by the trashy staff.
Pony up a bit more dough and stay anywhere else.
Safety first, friends!
