| - Its a good hike, but nothing to write home about. Parking is HORRIBLE, even if you arrive early. The trail to the summit can be steep at times, and has A LOT of "steps", if you will. Prepare for your thighs to burn and quiver in agony. The summit view to the East is awesome, as you can see the entire Phoenix Mountains Preserve stretched out below you, but the views to the West aren't stellar. Youll be greeted with an endless sea of homes, and SR-51 right below you. Its a decent workout, but the trail is often overcrowded, especially during the winter months when every Tom, Dick, and Harry is here from New York/Alberta/Washington/Minnesota/Montana/Colorado, etc.
