***THIS IS A REVIEW FOR SERVICE DEPT ONLY**
I didn't buy my car here so I can't say much about their sales dept.
Furthermore if you take a look at my account, I don't write reviews....so for me to go out of my way to write a review says something in itself.
Brought in my car to fix an oil light and other small issues along with a 22.5k maintence schedule
1. I told them my prior dealer gave me a complementary oil change as I was driving my car to Arizona!(Mueller Subaru btw in Highland park IL). But they recommended me changing my oil because that's the only reason why the light would be on. I suggested maybe it was a sensor malfunction or maybe the other dealer forgot to reset the computer etc. But the service guy told me to get it changed anyway to start fresh because i "moved here"
why on earth would I get an oil change if I don't need one???? esp at $79.95??BTW $79.95, even for synthetic oil is by far the HIGHEST price i have ever seen.
So after checking the oil level which was ~50% it was determined to be a problem with the switch.
2. I was told that I needed a new cabin air filter and engine filter which is fine. I read that this subaru dealer was family run and I am all for supporting family run stores even if it costs me more money. (FYI the engine filter is a fair price but charging 70 bucks for the cabin air filter is just crazy....you replace this yourself in 5 minutes and just get an OEM filter online. and costs less than half of what I paid)
Oh and I called ahead to see if I could get a loaner and they said I would have to bring it in and see how long it would take etc. Well i've been fooled by that before so I called subaru headquarters and had them get me a loaner. GOOD THING i did because my car was dropped off at 8:30AM and i got a phone call at 5:30PM saying it was done. Maybe because they knew I had a loaner they just took their sweet time? idk.
which brings me to the issue that made me write up this review in the limited free time I have. I presented to them a service coupon which is found on THEIR website and was told that they would not honor it because 1. I did not show them at the time of write up and 2. it was NOT PRINTED. and then proceeded to point at a sign posted up on the wall.
"at the time of write up" I'm an idiot and don't really know what this means. But it seems like it is the price they quote you before you leave the office? Not sure when else I could have shown them my coupon. BUT it is Interesting isn't it? they have no problem changing the invoice when they have to add services to the bill.
Not sure what difference it makes if I show them on the screen of my phone or if I printed it out........maybe im missing something here
but NO OTHER subaru dealership I ever dealt with ever had a problem with this. When I go buy parts at other dealerships they tell ME of coupons and just apply them for me
Its really not about the 25 dollars, I didn't fight it at all and walked out. It's about what it shows. If the Service Manager was too lazy to change the invoice around and reprint my bill then I can only hope what else they can be lazy about back there in the garage when they are repairing my car the next time.
There were some poor reviews on here but decided to give them a shot. But as with other folks I will be driving further away to try out another dealership in Scottsdale from now on.
Everyone I interacted with was very friendly and courteous. It's their professionalism that I am skeptical of.
Yelp says 3 stars is A-OK....which it wasn't so 2 stars it is.
