My husband and I looove Amorino. We have visited the locations in France, Porto, and Los Angeles multiple times. We were recently in Las Vegas, so naturally we stopped by the boutique on The Strip. We saw that they were out of hazelnut and so I asked the young woman behind the counter if they were expecting more. She said that they had actually just received a delivery but that it had melted to liquid between the loading dock and the store. Not surprising considering the extreme heat. She then told us - totally ignorant of the basic food safety rule that you never refreeze a defrosted item - that they had just put it back in the freezer to make it solid again. She was super casual about it as though it was common practice for them to just refreeze thawed out gelato that has already been shipped across the world. My husband and I were pretty grossed out. We politely thanked her for the info and left. We won't be returning to that location on a future trip to Vegas. This store totally needs to tighten their hygiene rules.
