| - The salt river is a "hit or miss" type of place. You're either going to leave already planning your next trip, or you're going to vow to never return. I've experienced both, and have concluded it is due to: Level of preparedness, and/or Members in your party.
I floated Mid July with my 24 yr. old sister, and my 16 yr. old sister, and it was a blast! There were no boobs, no one was littering, no one was foul at all. Many people offered us free beer, and everyone we encountered was very polite. We basically just played around, saw a beaver, and smiled for 4 hours straight! Obviously add in your own substances, pasties, and activities and you will do the same!
A message from someone who's hit & missed on the river:
My first float ever:
I didn't know what to expect, and just winged it. My, then, friends were negligent enough to allow the supply bag(water, sunscreen, snacks) drift away and sink to the river bottom an hour into our float. That left me baking in the sun for the next three hours, with no water, and very hangry. - The following day I had the most disturbing sunburn I've ever seen/had. My shins, feet and shoulders were decorated with thousands of little blisters. I was in serious pain for two weeks, and I had vowed to never ever ever EVER return to that wretched place EVER again.
-Fast forward four years-
My second float down the river:
Insanely wonderful. I believe at one point I shouted "THIS IS THE BEST DAY EVER!"
What changed? Well, I read Yelp reviews. I brought sheets to put over our tubes. I reapplied sunscreen 12 times in three hours(still got a tiny bit red). I brought a cooler full of water, water melon, and Clif bars. I also brought water guns and bubbles for entertainment, because I'm secretly 7 yrs. old. I guess you just have to be prepared, and you'll have a great time!
*FYI spot #4 is the VERY LAST spot. The girl whom we rented our tubes from accidentally told us that there was a spot #5 & we had to pay someone $20 to take us back to the tube rental. She was either new, or secretly hated us.
