| - I don't usually write a review after one visit - I like to get a feel for it on different nights so I can get a good sense for the restaurant/bar/pub. Last night was my first time at Brutus, a local bar for me, one I could literally crawl to from home or vice versa; I don't think I'll go back.
I don't want to write about things I did not experience so unfortunately I can't say much about their food options or beer. They seemed to have a good selection of "Epic Meal Time" inspired entrées; in fact the whole place feels like their capitalizing on this fad from 2012; am I being salty?
I'm writing this because the way the staff chose to handle a very simple request.
Once my $15 drink arrived, I notice the martini glass it is swirling in, and knowing full well how clumsy I am, I request to have it transferred to a short glass. The waiter laughs at me, I don't want to assume why, but in any case he made a deal about it and after I insisted, he returned it in a short glass. The drink was delicious, sour, with a hint of mint, two and half ounces of gin (so they said) and seeing as I was in good company I decided to order another one, this time from another waitress. She belittles me about the short glass and laughs about it some more; I guess he told her about it - I wasn't laughing. I'm not usually one who gets his knickers in a bunch but something about the experience left a sour taste in my mouth, pun intended.
Staff shouldn't mock their customers for a simple and reasonable request - perhaps they were doing it in good fun but it didn't feel like it at the time.
Shout-out for having "co-ed" washrooms though.
