| - A girl can only eat so much Chunky Monkey and Chubby Hubby before her taste-buds long for something more complex and stimulating, thankfully Jeni's has arrived in Northeast Ohio to do just that! I had heard about Jeni's from friends that live in Columbus but never had the chance to try her yummy concoctions. Then one day I happened across an article describing how Jeni's was opening a location in cool and quaint Chagrin Falls. I decided to visit on a Monday night but checked the website ahead of time to make sure they would be open and they were, 11am-11pm daily to be exact. I wandered in not quite sure what to expect and was pleasantly greeted with a smile by all employees. I then began perusing the freezers deciding which flavors I wanted to try before making my final decision. I sampled roughly 6 of the flavors and settled on the "trio" (3 scoops of any flavors of your choice) in a bowl, Bangkok Peanut, Brown Butter Almond Brittle and Rhubarb and Lime Cardamom Yogurt. I chose the Bangkok Peanut and Almond Brittle right away but had a hard time choosing the third between all the flavors when the very helpful and sweet employee suggested I do the Rhubarb and Lime Cardamom. She explained the Lime flavor would balance out the Bangkok Peanut's spicy finish nicely. How silly of me to think flavor pairing was just for wine! I must say, I've never had an ice cream with as much flavor depth as the Bangkok Peanut. At first taste, the peanut flavor is most prominent, then you taste the coconut in the background with a spicy cayenne finish to round it out at the end. And the Rhubarb Lime Cardamom was an excellent intermezzo, if you will, between bites of the Bangkok Peanut. There is no other ice cream I have tasted that is even in the same ballpark as this amazing wonder! The Brown Butter Almond Brittle was delicious as well but I was too busy swooning over my found new ice cream love to rave about it. Flavor combos aside, I really love the concept, cow to carton, no additives, no preservatives just what ice cream should be. You must give Jeni's a try, trust me, you're in for a real treat!
