  • I don't like writing bad event reviews. Being a member of this community is a privilege that brings me joy, and the amount of work our Yelp community leaders put into things is immense. Unfortunately, this event was disappointing. From their arrival many guests, including myself, were confused and overwhelmed. When I arrived I was told to wait at the bar; for 30 minutes other Yelpers would ask me questions about what was happening, was I waiting for something at the bar, could we start using our drink tickets, etc. All were great questions that I had no answers for. Eventually I and a handful of others just sat down because things were getting crowded and we had heard no updates beyond "wait at the bar". Eventually we were directed to the booths at the back of Fl 2. Sigh. Booths are not my favorite set-up. Unfortunately, once seated, no one at my table could hear a thing the speakers said. There was just WAY too much background noise, and their voices didn't carry to our seats. That's a shame since they talked about all of the food samples and ingredients we would be tasting. Not that I would remember everything in all five dishes if I could have heard them. Personally, when there's more than a couple samples, I'd rather have a printed list to reference, but that's personal preference. I hinted that I am not a fan of booths. Having to ask my friends - repeatedly - to move so I could get up and down to get samples and drinks was especially frustrating to deal with. Especially since not all of the samples were ready at once. At one point I just went to the bar to get my drinks and avoid another round of shuffling. And I, like others, stood there with my tickets waiting for my presence to be worth the bartenders' time. The food samples were tasty and I enjoyed both drinks! Although in the end, the best part of my night was sharing orders off the menu with my table. Sometimes it really is all about the almighty dollar, I guess - plus those orders felt like a better reflection of Fl 2's normal offerings. I'm hoping as I wrap up that this review didn't come off as snippy. Again, being an Elite is a privilege, and I adore our community leaders for their work. Not every event can be a 5 Star event. Here's to our future adventures in Pittsburgh, which I'm sure will continue to be fun and enjoyable!
