  • Consumer beware! My wife went in for a $17.99 (coupon) oil change and $251.93 later she was taken advantage of. She asked for the $17.99 oil change, but yet was given the more expensive one because they had recommended she get the synthetic blend and wasn't advised on how much more it was, just that it was covered with the coupon. Her car has 39510 miles on it, so she didn't need the higher mileage one at all. The idler pulley was making noise, so they recommended she replace that and the belt. She advised them that I just replaced the Alternator and the belt. She was confused and didn't realize they were talking about the same belt I had just put in an hour before she went to them. After seeing the bill and noticing they changed the brand new belt out, I called and spoke with the assistant manager last night. He said they always recommend replacing the belt when replacing the idler pulley. I said I understand that, but obviously there was a miscommunication and I'm confused on how your technician couldn't recognize a brand new belt, again it was maybe an hour old. He then advised he would refund the money for the belt in the morning if we just came back with the invoice and the card she used. We went this morning and met with the store Manager, who reluctantly wound up giving us only half the refund for the belt. The conversation started with we don't refund belts and he would need his belt back if we wanted a complete refund for it, to which I said fine, I want my brand new belt back. He then went to look for my belt. This was seriously the conversation we had over a mistake. Of course, they couldn't find the belt from a few days prior and that's the only reason, besides my complete frustration that he refunded half of it. Working in the customer service industry, I would've refunded the damn belt and reprimanded the assistant manager when he came in and not the other way around. My wife feels like she was completely taken advantaged of and that's a real shame. I do completely recognized that she agreed to to this, but only because she trusted them not take advantage of her. We have gone to this location for years with all of our cars and honestly this store has gone to shit since Steve Read left. I guess in the future, I will have to go completely across town to Steve's store when I can't do something myself.
