| - I'm fairly new to the yelp world, although I have several friends (and a husband) who use it regularly. I finally have a phone that is app-able, so I decided to get myself an account. The other day, my husband teased me about the fact that all I've been doing is checking in, and not writing reviews. He suggested that I might as well use four square instead, for all the contributing I'm doing...so, here we are, my first review. :) Please be gentle.
The first time I heard about the Safety Superstore, I figured it was a store for construction workers and electricians, and other folks who are trying very hard not to die on the job, and off in the corner somewhere there'd be a little baby-proofing section for those of us who are trying to keep future generations alive long enough to be able to shop at the Safety Superstore themselves. Turns out, I was very, very wrong.
This location is a huge warehouse full of safety goodies, 95% of which is for babies/children. You can find car seats, strollers, bath accessories, baby-proofing supplies, and even stuff that wouldn't necessarily be for safety, like stylish and functional diaper bags, nursery furniture, wooden toys, and even a bit of baby clothing. It's amazingly well stocked, if a little pricey in some areas. There is also a wee section for adult safety, which I haven't had the need to peruse, and therefore can't comment on. The warehouse staff is very knowledgeable, and always easy to find if you need help. There might even be a permanent person hanging out near the car seats and strollers, just to answer your questions. They'll demo every stroller for you if you wanted, and if you want to buy a car seat, they'll bring the display model out to your car to make sure it fits before you buy it.
If I need to find something wrong with the place, aside from some stuff feeling a little overpriced, it's the front desk staff, and even then, they're pretty good with the straight forward transactions. However, there were times that I dealt with them in more complicated transactions (for example, ordering a car seat from another location, putting money down to hold said car seat, etc.), and at those times they were a little disorganized, like they had never done it before. I guess it could be the case that in these instances they hadn't actually done these things before, but that's surprising to me - in the case of the car seat from another store, the staff were the ones who suggested that we do it that way in the first place.
I thoroughly enjoy going to the Safety Superstore, I have to admit. They're a one-stop shop for most of your baby needs (the only thing I can think of that they don't carry is diapers, and that's not quite accurate, because they carry cloth diapers), and even have a registry and a completely stocked online store. They've also got a little nursing room, just in case you need it. I was given a bit of advice before going to the warehouse location, and I'll pass it on to you. Wear comfortable shoes, and make sure your blood sugar isn't low, because you're going to be there for a while.
