  • I recently bought a home in Champaign. Before we moved in there was a huge electrical storm which caused a power surge in our garage which needed to have the GFI to be reset. Being unfamiliar with the systems, I called Helmuth Garage Door. The owner showed up and told me that I needed an electrician and it would cost me $495 for a new garage door opener. I was suspicious when he told me that he was on-call not for the money, but because he was bored on a Saturday morning. I called another garage door company and they came out and reset the door, my openers and didn't charge me. Helmuth was suggesting that I needed all new outlets in my garage. The man is a fraudster and preys on people. He is as dishonest as they come, don't hire him. Ever. He had the nerve to come back to my house after I didn't call him to ask me when he could do the work. When I told him that it just needed to be reset, he didn't blink an eye, just turned and walked back to his truck.
