  • Had a Dr. Patel and he had the audacity to contact me over the phone to tell me I had cancer and he didn't even ask if I was driving or anything, which I was. The Dr. Said because it was advance the tumor needed to be removed as soon as possible. I was in such a state of shock that I didn't even understand what type of cancer I had as he had communicated to me so quickly and that it should happen with in the next couple of weeks. When I told my husband he asked me what type of cancer did I have I told him I wasn't aware. That the Dr. Communicated everything so quickly that I had to pull over to process what he had even stated to me. So I couldn't tell him what type of cancer I had. The next day I called to schedule when I cld have the tumor removed and the gal told me that I wasn't a priority and that I would just have to call back. I asked her to have the Dr. Contact me and that I couldn't believe she communicated to me what she had said to me or even spoke to me the way she did. Talk about insensitive people there. The Dr. never called me the next day. So I called again and asked for the Dr. To call me again so I could understand what kind of cancer I had. Again another couple days passed and I got no call from the Dr. So my husband decided he'd call and try to find out as he was extremely upset over how all of this had been handled in the first place. He got no where. An entire week went by and still not contact from the Dr. Each time the assistant was more arrogant and rude to me. Here I have no answers and she wants to treat me like crap. I spoke with a patient advocate to try to get answers and they were as worthless as everyone else. Mayo seems to have a huge problem and one of them is communication and help people out. I even tried logging on to my patient portal and no information had been up dated there as well. After 3 weeks of getting no where w/Mayo, I left Mayo. They for the most part are horrible and have some of the worst Dr.'s I've ever come in contact with. I have never been treated so poorly by a Dr or his people as I have from the Dr.'s at the Mayo Clinic. Most these Dr.'s are complete idiots that work for the Mayo Clinic and many come from other Countries. My new Dr I obtained outside of the Mayo, said he'd never heard of Dr's behaving the way they did with me. My first Dr. there even made up a story line about me. He never examined, looked me in the eye and the only thing he did was ask me yes or no questions on my very first visit there, Dr. Poole and never looked up from his computer and typed in info that didn't even relate to me or was about me. He made up his own assessment on me based on medicine I was currently taking. It angered me so much so, that I asked to have the info removed as this man didn't even assess me properly let alone give me any type of an examine. So I refused to see him again. They made it almost impossible for me to change to another Dr. Until I literally lost it in the waiting room where every one sits waiting to be seen. I had asked patient advocate to help me and again I don't know why they have these people, they are worthless and do nothing. Mayo is the worst clinic I've ever dealt with and the Dr's have the worst bedside manners I have ever came across. I'm extremely happy w/my Dr. I now, but you couldn't pay me to ever go back to the Mayo again. They also treated my husband extremely poor as well, while he was in the hospital. Neither one of us will ever be going back. My husbands bosses wife as well has been dealing w/idiots at the Mayo. After yrs of treatment there, you'd think they could stabilize her. What I do get is they are a research hospital. So instead of treating you, they'll run ever test they can on you, because they know you've got really good insurance. But can they fix you no! They kept telling my had and he had asthma, what he had was pulmonary embolism. What idiots!!! After 6 trips to the ER and not able to breath, they finally got it. How can such a hospital like this in AZ be so bad? Say no to Mayo!! They aren't worth the time or frustration... Or the money you pay.
