| - I decided to wait on reviewing until I had a handful of visits. Looks like I'm the Duke and can undoubtedly give a clear and concise explanation of what to expect visiting here based on my experience from various times and days of using their services. The parking and location are a prime location for the west valley and provides easy access to parking for both General and handicap spaces. Upon entry of the emergency room, on multiple occasions it seemed that the environment created by employees reflect the worst of the customers they receive in the worst of times. Very dry and uninterested. Sort of like bored office setting workers just calling out names and pushing buttons to figure out how to triage it's customers. Because the serious subject of my visits, I don't wait so not sure how long they take if you're coming in for a bad flu or broken bone. On other occasions when visiting for procedural appointments, the staff at check in is very friendly and attentive. They offer assistance after in-processing to walk you virtually to where you need to be. To the meat and potatoes: service is slow and the theme of bored employees is very apparent. There is a concern for lack of basic knowledge or common understanding on certain subjects. Without divulging medical info, I can say that on more than one occasion nurses have given the deer in the headlights look when mentioning a diagnosis, plan of care, or diet plan that is actually not just hospital talk but everyday discussion in much of today's society. A nurse should know what consists of a vegetarians diet. "I don't know" is unacceptable. As different doctors visit during an inpatient status, each specialist is pretty good about coming in the room to relay their piece of the pie while totally discounting every other doctor's take what the plan of care is. For example: XX illness is reason for visit, Doc for infectious diseases comes in to talk about meds to be administered and then communicates that promptly after, patient can be discharged. Hello! You're not in charge. Other things are going on and you are just one piece of the puzzle. This is very disturbing because it tells you that the doctors aren't communicating or aren't taking the time to find out what else is going on with the patient. Upon calling for assistance, they are slow once again to respond and it is a very quiet atmosphere so no hustle and bustle to indicate that they are too busy. A possible reason is that they are understaffed. Once again, this review is based on multiple visits and my comments are a reflection of incidents that have transpired sometimes on more than one occasion. This hospital is much closer to me than a hospital I'd rather go to but I am seriously considering taking that long drive rather than deal with disappointment and uncertainty.
