  • Let me start off by saying that I really enjoy going to aquariums, and so maybe I'm a little biased. My husband and I went with his parents on Sunday afternoon, so basically the second weekend that they were open. There was quite a long line of people waiting to buy tickets, so we opted to purchase tickets on our phone and were able to bypass some of the crowd. Yes, there were crowds. Stop complaining. If you go to a brand new attraction within the first month of opening, you aren't allowed to complain about the crowd because you're a part of it. Upon entering, there are several large tanks of freshwater fish, and we enjoyed watching those. To the reviewer who said the fish were "boring", I say "What do you think they should be doing?" They are FISH. I kind of forget the order of exhibits, but one of our favorites was the large tank with the hammerhead sharks and green eels...creepy! The touchpool was fun, and the information we got about the creatures in the tank was interesting. My husband enjoyed the alligators, and we liked the large tank that had several small stingrays. The shark tunnel was very cool, and we saw lots of sharks and larger stingrays. I could have spent lots of time in there. I think the architects/designers did a very good job at keeping large portions of the building intact. The brick hallways of exhibits were interesting. We especially liked the lobsters at the base of the tower. We are so very glad that they do not allow strollers. It's so frustrating trying to see an exhibit at the zoo or someplace and there are giant strollers taking up half the viewing area. I don't know that a child that still needs a stroller would actually have fun here anyway. I do have a couple suggestions, if the appropriate people ever read this. 1) a coat check. They could make a KILLING at $1/coat. It was pretty warm in there, and in retrospect I would have left my coat in the car. 2) give the touchpool employees a mike. The poor girl was practically shouting herself hoarse trying to be heard over the crowd. 3) add a few more benches. My MIL was getting tired partway through and there wasn't a lot of seating. All that being said, I will DEFINITELY go back. I'm very excited to see what Phase II will bring!
