  • We go out occasionally for "cinq à sept", and recently we chose to go to Altitude 737. Since it was 5-7, there was not a lot of club activity, so I can't rate the experience of Club 737 which is 1 floor lower. Additionally, the patio was closed due to inclement weather. So this review is exclusive to the restaurant bar experience of Altitude 737. First off, the view is amazing. This bar is on top of the tallest building in Montreal, and is the "737" section of the establishment. If I recall, "717" was the terrace and "727" was the club. We went on a Thursday, and the drink special was 2 for 1 cosmo martini's or 2 for 1 local beers (which only included Molson Ex and Coors light). They have an impressive list of martini's, almost 150 different combinations, and they are all $12. The environment is clean, with nice hard wood floors and windows for walls. The place had an overall scent of windex. There were a few drawbacks, particularly in the service department. On the base floor, a door woman escorted us to the elevator and made the appropriate selection, which was nice. Once at the penthouse level, we took a second elevator (unattended and unsure where to go), to either 717, 727 or 737. In Altitude 737 a nice and similarly dressed door woman meet us and took us to the bar area, again nice. At the bar there were two bartenders and a waiter. I was really disappointed in the bartenders. They were slow, and the waiter was no help. The drinks were not so good, the martini's had too much grenadine and not enough alcohol. We sat at the bar...I guarantee if we were at a table we would never have gotten a drink. Also, the martini's were small for $12, even if they were bogo. I plan to go back, just to try the terrace...and then that'll be the last time.
