| - So if your still calling pain au chocolat "chocolate croissants" and you're
looking for a "coffee shop" (previous reviews), I suggest you head south to Starbucks or better still, Timmies. If you're looking for exquisite french pastries, you've come to the right place. Our family practically lives here. The croissants (which are made by Jules) are hands down the best in the city - as are the pain au chocolats and amandines. Great selection of vegetarian and hammy quiches, sandwiches and really interesting salads - quinoa, beet, broccoli, etc. - they change it up. Crusty breads to take home, yum! Tea Emporium teas that are quite lovely, and of course there's the fabulous Te Aro coffees. But no, this is not one of those two other establishments mentioned above, so you will not be getting any 800 calorie slushies masquerading as coffee here - this place is for grown ups who actually appreciate real European coffee.
Down sides - nothing to get bent out of shape about: sometimes they run low on options near the end of the day and in the past there WC has at time been out of commission, but it's been fine for months now so perhaps they've found a permanent fix (if you're over 6'3" you may have to hunch over cuz it's in one of those North Toronto basements).
The place is a gem and just writing about it is getting me thinking I should run over and get me a café au lait and amandine to go!!
