| - This is a great gallery on the corner of Professor and College Streets in Tremont.
My first visit to the Paul Duda Gallery was at the end of the Tremont Trek home tour in June 2009. After an evening of touring different unique houses in the neighborhood and sampling cuisine by local restaurants, Paul Duda opened their doors for a raffle and dessert tasting featuring items from Lilly Handmade Chocolates and A Cookie and a Cupcake Boutique.
It was a great event and introduced me to the pieces in the gallery--the majority of which were photographs of the traditional sights of Cleveland, as well as the more hidden, unique spots of the city. One series that captured my attention, for example, were photographs of the Guardians (stone sculptures "overseeing" the Lorain-Carnegie Bridge). The other, a very cozy shot of 25th Street in Ohio City blanketed with snow. Both gave me a feeling of pride in Cleveland, despite my having just moved there a month earlier.
Since that visit, I have visited the gallery a number of times, once to buy a print for my mom for Mother's Day. I was given great advice while selecting the perfect piece, and was able to arrange for shipping at a minimal cost. The gallery was very communicative with me as far as when it was to be shipped out and I never had to worry about it getting there.
The gallery is open for Art Walks on the second Friday of each month, but stop by before then to find something cool and representative of Cleveland to hang in your place.
