  • Sure the movie is funny but is it really worth a visit? I wasn't completely sold but I was in Cleveland with two major fans of the movie...so off we were to the house. Pulling up we lucked out with a parking spot (free) on the road directly across the house. Tickets for the tour are available at the museum, only $11. The hours are 10am-5pm, the first tour starts at 10:15 am then every hour. We had about 10 minutes before our tour departed, enough time for us to use the restrooms located in the museum and take a quick look around. Our tour guide then took us across the street to the house and right into the famous living room. Once everyone was inside she gave us a great presentation with so much insight and information about the movie, what scenes were actually filmed here. How this house was chosen for the film and how today it is a museum. I found our guide very knowledgeable. After she finished her talk we were all allowed to wonder the house, take photos and encouraged to pick up items. Of course we all had to hold the red ryder bb gun and take the leg lamp out of the fragile box and sit under the sink like Randy did in the movie. I got a kick out of seeing so many adults acting like kids, they loved being able to be so interactive with this place. We were given plenty of time to check things out in the house, then it was off to the backyard. This is where lots of scenes were filmed for the movie, with the bad guys climbing over the fence and shed. Everything here is so well maintained. Our next stop was the museum across the street that houses so many original props and other items used in the movie. I loved all the photographs, how they created snow, the cast in between scenes. The last stop of the tour was in front of two similar vehicles from the movie. A fire truck and the family car, neither are the originals but still gives you an idea. Overall I was surprised at how great this tour was. From the cost only $11, to the great tour guide... they did an amazing job at organizing the actual tour. Plenty of time for everyone at each stop. I would recommend anyone visiting Cleveland to definitely stop by!
