I ordered some things that were a little out of my comfort zone, so some things I liked and some things I didn't. I knew I was running that risk when I ordered them. Overall the food tasted fantastic. My biggest issue was the roasted dates, and that was with the texture of the dates. The flavor was great, but the texture was off-putting. I'd never had dates before, and now I know that I'm not a fan. I had the hanger steak, which was also something different with me. I figured that I could order steak there and decide whether my previous experiences with steak were disappointing just because it was bad steak, or if I truly did not like steak. Again the flavors were fantastic, but I'm not a fan of chewing my meat forever, which seems to be a requirement with steak. I chose the polenta as my side dish and was very impressed. We ended our meal with a slice of pumpkin bread. It is a very small portion for $8, and at first I was a little upset that we were getting so little for our money. Then I had a bite of it, and it was perfect. It tasted spectacular and was just the right amount to end the meal with.
The only complaint I have is that the restaurant was too dark. It might have been a good thing because I'm pretty sure that my "medium" steak would have been rare anywhere else. I was happier not knowing just how red it was.
