| - It's rare to find a bar/lounge that serves actual cocktails. However, Vesper Bar located in the new Cosmopolitan Hotel & Casino is the exception.
The bar is named after the James Bond libation consisting of 3 shots of gin, one shot of vodka and Lillet. Though this doesn't appeal to me, many of the specialty drinks served here are very appealing. Please note that these aren't the gin tonics or cuba libres served for free when you're gambling. The drinks are more expensive, but are worth it in my opinion to savor and enjoy, not to get you drunk. These drinks are the work of fine craftsmen who take the time to add flavor and style to a cocktail. If you want a beverage with a fizz made from real egg, a squeeze of real citrus, or a unique blend of flavors and essences, then this is the spot for you. I was very impressed when I tried a Green Eyed Lady that was flavored with the essence of celery and garnished with a sprig of fresh rosemary made aromatic by a personal blowtorch. These are the types of cocktails that you can rarely find and when you do it's amazing.
The staff was very attentive and helpful to. My bartender was George and he was amazingly friendly and knowledgeable about spirits, cocktails and mixology. He also gave me some great tips and ideas of other places to see in Las Vegas, many of them away from the Strip and the typical tourist circuit.
The location is right off the main hotel lobby in the Cosmopolitan. Smoking is permitted at the bar. The lounge area is kind of in the middle of a big hallway between the hotel and the casino, which isn't the best spot, but it's not too bad. The decor is swanky and mod. It's pretty relax and chill in the bar.
I can't recommend this bar enough. I would have stayed here my entire Vegas stay if I had known about it sooner.
