| - When I moved to Madison I knew one of the first things I had to do was find a gym, preferably close to me and with classes that I could do throughout the week while working during the day. So naturally I took advantage of almost every free trial I could find around downtown Madison to figure out which would be best for me and my schedule. After about of month of free trials I chose Capital and honestly it wasn't even a competition, Capital was by far my favorite on all fronts.
I am a person that doesn't need a lot of motivation to get to the gym, but I do want to be able to do things that will entertain my when I get there. So I always want to go to a gym that has lots of classes and WOW does Capital provide you with that. In the morning, throughout the day, and in the evening you can find yoga, group fitness, and cycling classes of all different kinds. One reason I didn't choose another gym was because the timing of their classes almost always fell while I would be at work or coming home from work and that just wasn't going to be useful to me. But Capital has such a wide range that I never have an issue getting to the classes I want at times that work for me. On top of the wide range of classes, all of the instructors are fantastic. I have taken almost every kind of class they have and have talked with numerous of Capital's instructors and they are consistently awesome. They are all super energetic (group fitness/spin) or calming (yoga) so they keep you engaged during the classes, while on top of the fact that they are all very aware of the human body and completely willing to help if you have injuries or restrictions that you have to watch out or. Ask them anything, they're more than willing to help you.
While the classes are great and the instructors are too, the facility as a whole has so many different parts that you can always find open machines, in my experience. They have everything that I could want in terms of machines and equipment, I can't say the same for a guy that lifts weights every day, but for me it is pretty great. Everything is always kept clean in the workout areas and the locker rooms, so certainly don't worry about anything in that department. I would say that this is definitely the best choice for a gym in the downtown Madison area.
